Rick Riccobono was promoted to senior director of development for USA Baseball in March 2013 after serving the organization as the director of development from 2010 to early 2013. Riccobono has directed a multitude of programs since his hiring in 2004. In his current role, Riccobono is responsible for areas of governance and the continued health and proliferation of the amateur game. As part of his duties, Riccobono serves as a liaison between Major League Baseball, USA Baseball and its national member organizations in matters pertaining to the amateur game. During his tenure with USA Baseball, Riccobono has been innovative, leading USA Baseball’s efforts with the Pitch Smart initiative, a joint youth arm care website created in partnership with MLB, while also taking the USA Baseball Breakthrough Series, the 12U National Team program, the 14U National Team program, the National Team Identification Series and the National High School Invitational, from conception to publication. Riccobono’s time at USA Baseball has also included National Team program director duties at the 12U, 14U and 18U age levels.  In all, he served the organization as part of six different national teams, that captured five gold medals while compiling a total international record of 43 – 2. Riccobono was selected in the sixth round of the 1998 Major League Baseball First-Year Player Draft by the Boston Red Sox out of Commack (N.Y.) High School. He received his bachelor of arts in communications from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and currently resides in Raleigh, N.C., with his wife, Katie, and their three daughters, Riley, Emmalyn and Vivian.
