Dr. Onil Bhattacharyya is the Frigon-Blau Chair in Family Medicine Research at Women’s College Hospital. He is also an associate professor in the Department of Family and Community Medicine and the Institute of Health Policy, Management and Evaluation, University of Toronto. He received his medical degree at the University of Montreal, did a PhD in health services research at the University of Toronto and was a Takemi Fellow at the Harvard School of Public Health. Dr. Bhattacharyya co-leads BRIDGES: Building Bridges to Integrate Care, a Health Ministry funded initiative to design and evaluate new models of care for complex chronic disease. Since joining Women’s College, a hospital without inpatient beds, he has set up an incubator for new models of ambulatory care that applies lean startup and design thinking to integrate primary and specialist care with community services. He is the clinician lead for the Primary and Integrated Care Innovation Network for Ontario, which develops cross-sector solutions for people with complex needs across the life course. Dr. Bhattacharyya has published more than 30 peer-reviewed papers and numerous book chapters. He works closely with government, academia and the private sector to build a more effective, responsive, and integrated health care system.
