Mikkel Aaland is an award wining photographer, popular workshop leader and author of fifteen books on digital photography and post-production. He has been at the forefront of digital photo technology since its beginnings. His interest was aroused when world famous American photographer Ansel Adams told of his fascination for digital photos from space during an interview in 1980. Aaland began writing about digital photography for the Swedish periodical Photo and for American Photographer, later being engaged as a consultant for TV programs and guest columnist for www.newsweek.com. Aaland was also a non-paid advisor in the original development of Adobe Photoshop Elements and Adobe Photoshop Lightroom and has authored numerous books on both applications. He is the creator and director of two Adobe Adventures, one to Iceland in 2006 and the other to Tasmania in 2008. He is the co-creator and co-director of the Beyond Pixels Unfestival, held at the Nordic Light Photography Festival in Kristiansund, Norway. He is based in San Francisco and Ulefoss, Norway.
