Michael Chaney is a professor of Film and Television at SCAD. His films and time based media projects have been exhibited internationally. As a filmmaker, educator, artist, and specialist in short film form he has been challenging his students with the task of developing new methods of storytelling through emerging cinematic practices and has mentored young filmmakers searching for focused creative direction. Chaney has been a consultant and special events programmers for the Savannah Film Festival since it’s inception in 1998 and has his finger on the pulse of emerging time based media practices. He's also an Episcopal priest with a track record of working for social justice through spirituality and the arts, including issues of LGBT equality, anti-oppression, and anti-racism. He likes squirrels.
