Laura Moy
New America Foundation's Open Technology Institute
Sr Policy Counsel
Laura is an attorney at nonprofit tech policy organization Public Knowledge, where she advocates in Congress and government agencies for balanced copyright policies that encourage creativity, collaboration, and a rich public discourse. For example, she recently helped Congress pass a law that makes it legal for individuals to unlock their cell phones so they can use their phones on any network they choose—something that (weirdly) was arguably barred by overreaching copyright law. Prior to joining PK, Laura was a clinical teaching fellow at Georgetown Law. She received her J.D. from New York University School of Law.
