Kara Andrade is co-founder of HablaCentro LLC and Not For Profit which develops curriculum to help people in Latin America become more digitally literate and civically engaged; conducts trainings in the use of digital tools to create more informed citizens; and connects collaborators to opportunities so they can sustain themselves economically through informed global citizenship and storytelling. She is a technology trainer for the U.S. State Department’s eDiplomacy Initiative as well as, for the U.S. Institute of Peace. She leads trainings on storytelling, blogging, digital literacy, communications, community organizing, storyteling strategy and journalism. She graduated from the University of California at Berkeley with a Masters in Journalism and has more than ten years of experience in nonprofit development, public health and community organizing. She has worked as a multimedia producer and photojournalist for Agence France-Presse, Americas Quarterly, Associated Press, Christian Science Monitor, France 24, Global Post, ReVista: Harvard Review of Latin America, The New York Times and other publications.
