Ernesto Rodriguez Leal got his BSc in Mechanical and Electrical Engineering at Monterrey Tech with honors, and MSc degrees in Mechatronics and Global Technology Management at the Technische Universität Hamburg-Harburg and the Northern Institute of Technology Management in Germany. He obtained a PhD in Mechanical Engineering at King’s College London. He completed a Certificate of Strategy and Innovation from MIT Sloan in 2013, and participated in the selective Graduate Studies Program at Singularity University in 2014. Ernesto has been recipient of scholarships and research grants from Hylsamex, DAAD, The Mexican Ministry of Science (CONACYT), the Mexican Ministry of Economy (SE), and the Körber AG. He is the author of the book entitled “Evolutionary Design of Parallel Mechanisms” and over 25 peer-reviewed publications. He has filed four patent applications in the areas of Robotics and Biomedical devices. He is the founder and president of Fundación Aukera AC, a nonprofit organization for designing, crowdfunding, and manufacturing low-cost prosthetics. In addition, he is the founder and CEO of WeaRobot, a spin-off company that develops brain and muscle controlled exoskeletons for motion assistance and rehabilitation. Furthermore, he is the co-founder and CTO of the Silicon Valley-based start-up Hoope Inc. with the vision of impacting positively the Health of millions of people. Right now he is an Associate Professor in Robotics, Research Chair of Entrepreneurship in Robotics and former Director of the Academic Program of Innovation and Development at Monterrey Tech.
