Diane J. Johnson, Ph.D., M.Div 30+ years of experience, learning and service - business, public, community & social sectors. Intersection of community transformation, diversity & inclusion, organizational change, Spirit. Has trained, consulted and partnered with more than 8K orgs & individuals. Dr. Johnson is founder and president of Mmapeu Management Consulting, a national consulting firm committed to supporting and facilitating the alignment of mission, vision and values for organizations engaged in individual, organizational, institutional, community and societal transformation. Established in 1992, Mmapeu Management Consulting was inspired by Diane’s work co-leading a cultural brigade in South Africa which offered workshops, classes, training and technical assistance to NGO’s in Johannesburg, Durban, Cape Town, and Natal. Mmapeu is a South African name that means ‘woman who carries ideas’. Dr. Johnson is the author of several books, including Proud Sisters, The Wit & Wisdom of African- American Women, Mother Love (which collectively have sold more than 170,000 copies), and The Cultural Diversity Fieldbook. Dr. Johnson holds a M.Div. from Pacific School of Religion, a Ph.D. from Tufts University (Interdisciplinary Studies - sociology, organizational behavior, management and non-profit studies including coursework at Boston College, JFK School of Public Policy at Harvard and UMass Amherst;), a Masters in Nonprofit Management from the Graduate School of Management and Urban Policy at The New School and a B.A. from University of Pennsylvania’s Annenberg School of Communications with a marketing concentration from the Wharton School. She is several months away from becoming an ordained United Church of Christ minister. An avid dancer, gourmet chef, jazz aficionado, volunteer in her various spiritual communities and a West African drummer, Diane exhibits a unique joie d’vive integrating humor, enthusiasm and intellectual rigor in her trainings & workshops.
