SXSW Cosplay Competition
Cosplay, short for costume play, is like a geek fashion show, but instead clothes coming from high-end designers, the costumes are based on video games, anime, manga, TV Shows, movies and books. Each entrant takes to the stage, showing off their handmade outfits, competing for a chance to win amazing prizes and the coveted Best in Show award!

Austin Education Game Jam
Think of it as a hack-a-thon focused on educational game development. Unfortunately, much of the educational games landscape is cluttered with poorly designed or simply uninteresting games that fail to deliver meaningful learning outcomes. Often, the games in education are not designed by expert game developers who specialize in fun, engaging technology, and therefore fail to enthrall the students who play them. Topnotch game developers with the guidance of students and educators came together over the weekend of March 7-9 and built games that are both fun and standards aligned. Industry professionals awarded three prizes: Best educational game content, best use of augmented reality tools, and best in show. Come see what these award winners developed in 48 hours!

Robot Petting Zoo
The first ever SXSW Robot Petting Zoo brings out friendly ground & aerial robots for SXSW attendees to touch, operate, and even program. RPZ organizer the Field Innovation Team (FIT) and robot handlers will explain how robots have done - and have potential to do - incredible work in disaster before setting kindly humans loose to interact, learn, and play. Spatially-oriented humans will get to play with robots whose functions mimic those of humans. Humans wishing to slip the surly bonds of earth will meet robots who have flown above disasters to gather critical data. Humans interested in Macgyver-esque robots will meet robots that can serve many purposes, such as flying while 3D printing. Robot friends will learn about FIT's first ever Robot Petting Zoo in the migrant crisis on the US-Mexico border and will learn about the incredible promise for robots to do good in all manner of disasters and humanitarian crises. Come meet the many friendly robots that await your friendship at the Robotics Petting Zoo.
All Robot Handlers will give short presentations about their robots on a stage to an audience throughout the day. Schedule of presentations for Monday, March 16, is below.
