Be Hear Now: Hearing Protection Is Music's Future
Noise induced hearing loss is poised to become the next major public health crisis, having a profound impact not just on professionals at every level of the music business but on all music fans who support them with dedication and dollars. Recent Harvard studies have found that post-gig ringing ears and muffled sounds most concertgoers experience for hours or even days doesn’t simply disappear but is a marker of permanent nerve damage and the first sign of irreversible hearing loss. Yet this devastating disability is completely preventable by limiting exposure and using protection. But whose responsibility is it to educate and encourage friends, fans and co-workers to practice safe sound?

Craft Beer, Cabanas, & Concierge: Curating the New Festival Experience
With more music festivals than ever before, producers are differentiating themselves by paying more attention to the overall attendee and artist experience. Curated offerings that include enviable gastronomic choices, glamping, and golf cart valet are becoming the norm, but some have criticized the Goop-ification of festivals. Are producers just responding to the expectations of a savvier, more demanding audience with high-end, high-ticket amenities or are they creating a divided audience by catering to the so-called "one percent of rock"? We’ll look at the evolution of festival hospitality and look ahead to where things are going.

Content is CEO
In this new world of evolving music release models with direct access to fans through web and social media and diminished control of promotion and distribution by traditional partners (Record Labels/TV/Print/Radio) the Content is CEO panel focuses on the shift toward more content creators (artists) owning their copyrights, running their own business and cultivating their brand successfully as entrepreneurs, as one of the trends representing a portion of the new music and entertainment industry.
The panel features several different types of artists who have approached claiming control of their business and career differently, and also engages industry professionals with experience in the evolving industry to reflect on the pro’s and cons of content creators at the helm of their business and brand, and what this model represents to the industry at large as the rules are rewritten on commercial success, cultural relevance  and career longevity.
