3D Printing Becomes Additive Manufacturing

Sign up or log in to save this to your schedule, view media, leave feedback and see who's attending!

Interest in 3D printing is soaring, but not all 3D printing technologies are created equal. Only a few techniques are ideal for manufacturing parts that go inside cars, planes and consumer electronics.
Additive manufacturing is one such technique that fabricates complex and durable objects layer by layer. But, the technology faces challenges in transitioning from one that is utilized to build prototypes to one that is used to manufacture on a large scale. Can additive technologies one day be used to manufacture cars, phones and laptops?
Join researchers from the Cockrell School of Engineering at The University of Texas at Austin and experts from industry in a discussion about additive manufacturing’s potential to disrupt today’s design and manufacturing practices. We will explore that potential and outline the challenges involved in making the technology a go-to turn-key manufacturing process.
