With software “eating the world,” everyone is trying to hire Software Engineers, but much less time is being spent on how you build a truly great software team. Describing best practices established from teams at National Instruments (a Fortune 100 Best Company to Work For 15 years running) Bazaarvoice (a leading Enterprise SaaS company) and now WP Engine (a fast growing startup, with a Best Company to Work for in Austin culture) We’ll start with an approach to recruiting that guarantees you’ll hire top talent, and see a lot of great candidates coming through the pipeline. Next we’ll focus on the internals of team structure, how to create great teams making great products. The focus here is not on a particular software development life cycle, but on driving engagement and excitement throughout the team, with specific tips on recruiting and retaining great Software Engineers and DevOps Engineers (an especially tough nut to crack.)
