The New American Story – Latinos in the Media

Sign up or log in to save this to your schedule, view media, leave feedback and see who's attending!

Media has long been a tool to speak out about current events. In recent years, major demographic shifts have contributed to a growing Latino population, effectively creating a new American story. Latinos have taken the stage in TV, film and in the media, showcasing their lives to a wider American audience. But this new American story is much more vibrant and diverse than it is being portrayed. How long will it take for Latinos to play the tech workers and the scientists, and not just the immigrants and the janitors? When will a “Latino film” be seen as just a “film”? These are the questions we ask as we explore how media continues to shape how Americans view current issues like immigration.
