Innovations in technology need to be leveraged to expand our communities’ capability to access public services and increase civic engagement. However the main player in the field is struggling in an era where there is a commonly held perception that government does not work. A 2012 Gallup Poll found only 18 percent of American's placed a great deal of trust in government. More importantly, many have started to believe what happens in government will not impact their lives. That’s where philanthropy comes in.
Currently playing a leading role as convener, civic institutions are bringing leaders from the public sector, business and academia together with our tech savvy citizens to identify better ways for all of us to engage government and engage each other. Come and indulge in a quick fire look into how civic leaders and nonprofits can use new civic technologies to become more nimble and flexible in their communities and help them respond to entrepreneurial opportunities as they arise.
