Five Tips to Be a Design’s Surrogate, Not Parent

Sign up or log in to save this to your schedule, view media, leave feedback and see who's attending!

Behind every design is a creator who breathed it into existence and nurtured it to maturity. But these creators don’t always know their role in the design cycle; many work on contract, and loving a design while knowing when it’s time to cut the cord can be the trickiest step in the process. Because transferring custody can leave a brilliant design without a rudder, taking steps to ensure its survival after your departure is essential to returning ownership to the parent company.
Ben Jordan, VP of Customer Experience at InVision, will discuss what a designer's role is during this period, how to work oneself out of the project gracefully, and how to be a surrogate instead of a parent to a design. Ben will use practical and real-life examples to help designers facilitate seamless transitions of a project's ownership back to a client while still maintaining the design's integrity, accessibility and usability.
