The discussion will focus on the future of impact investing and how federal policy currently seeks to help unleash new capital, talent, and energy for political, economic, social and environmental good (eg, private equity funds in Egypt, Tunisia and Pakistan to support small and medium enterprises alongside microfinance platforms; empowering youth by supporting entrepreneurship and education through Young African Leaders Initiative and Young Southeast Asian Leaders Initiative). Part of the conversation will solicit from entrepreneurs and innovators their guidance on what we’re doing right, wrong and what more we can do. The conversation will also consider the role of government in plugging into the existing ecosystem and promoting the conditions and a culture for social entrepreneurship through presidential initiatives like WEAmericas (Womens Entrepreneurship in the Americas) and during health crises such as the recent Ebola outbreak.
