Rise of the Employee: Leveling The Power Balance

Fifty years ago, most people worked for the same companies their entire lives. They had no idea what they could or should earn, and many likely felt scared to ask questions.
Today, everything has changed. Now that the majority of people have multiple jobs throughout their careers, employers pay more attention to employee engagement, satisfaction, and personal development in order to retain talent. With the availability of salary and performance data, access to modern back office tools, and the opportunity to give and receive peer reviews, employees are finally empowered as equal stakeholders in setting their pay, and feel appreciated for the work they do.
Do we work to live or live to work? Should compensation be a transaction or a meaningful connection between the employer and employee? In this session, ZenPayroll CEO and co-founder Joshua Reeves will explore why we’ve entered the age of the employee, and how the imbalance of power in the workplace has shifted.
