We’ve met them all before, and we’ve worked alongside them at times, but now they report to us. We're talking about personalities and worldviews so extreme that you wonder how you’re ever going to get them to work together and not have it devolve into absolute chaos.
Using the beloved characters from A.A. Milne’s stories set in The Hundred Acre Wood as examples we will consider them as ideal, or less than ideal, employees. And tackle how you as their manager can look to some of the basic Taoist principles described in Benjamin Hoff’s The Tao of Pooh to help guide them on their journey without losing your mind.
Can you ever get an Eeyore to see the glass as half full? Can you channel Tigger’s endless enthusiasm into something less destructive? Is it possible to instill self-confidence into A Very Small Animal like Piglet? A working knowledge of Taoist Principles is not required, but strong familiarity with characters from classic British children’s literature definitely helps.
