The panel will go through the state of political engagement by the startup community since a Founder Visa was proposed by Paul Graham in April 2009. Discussion topics cover activities a community can take to create an effective, unified political voice that is heard by and drives Washington DC. As well, we'll review past actions by the startup community and compare them to metrics that evaluate political effectiveness.
Looking forward, the panel will also address possible pathways to an effective, predictable startup visa either by changing current laws through the standard process, calling on unilateral state action or facilitating legislative action in the new Congress. Will the startup community fund such unified action? How will the balance between policy and politics be struck while achieving implementation and moving beyond the usual talk-over-action in DC?
