Prerequisites:
Knowledge of building websites in HTML & CSS is nice, but not required.
What to Bring:
A laptop with the latest version of Chrome browser installed.
The complexity of designing websites for the mobile age is ever increasing. Designers and developers alike need tools that speed up their process and improve their efficiency. In this workshop, we take a look at one particular solution, Webflow, that helps designers and developers create responsive websites without knowledge of code. We’ll dive deep into the problems plaguing web design in 2015, and look at how we can use next-generation tools to our benefit.
At the end of this workshop, you will:
1. Realize that building your own custom website does not require code.
Learn the basic concepts of web design by learning how to use Webflow through a step by step course, complete with all course materials so you can get your hands dirty, or sit back and watch.
2. You will learn that building for the web is for people of all backgrounds, not just professionals with coding experience.
3. Learn about why building websites is a skill that is necessary for people of all roles in business.
4. Get a sneak peek at a revolutionary feature Webflow has been building that will blow your socks off...
Schedule
00:00-00:15 - Introduction to Web Design problems in 2015, and discuss the increasing complexity of building for the web.
00:15-00:30 - Review of the current tools in the landscape, and their approach. Introduce Webflow and review it’s capabilities
00:30-01:15 - Start workshop session. We will give users a step by step walkthrough complete with pre-built Webflow sites that they will be able to clone themselves so they can follow along. Step 1: Layout of a website and class styling.
