Youth Activism in a Post Snowden World

Sign up or log in to save this to your schedule and see who's attending!

Is Edward Snowden the new face of activism? Snowden’s leak of NSA documents, two weeks before his 30th birthday, marked a fresh take on activism, a word historically applied to the demonstrations and physical protests of the Arab Spring and Occupy Wall Street.
So what resonates with people in their 20s and 30s, and what motivates them to act? How have Snowden’s actions changed the state of activism for a new generation? Marco Werman, host of PRI’s The World, will sit down with Zeynep Tufekci, an influential blogger and academic, for an in-depth conversation about privacy, social media censorship, hashtag activism, and global youth protests. Youth perspectives from past and present protest sites around the world, plus audience questions, will enhance the conversation. Tweet your questions before the panel using the hashtag #safemode.
