An intermediate understanding of web user experience design and/or development.
What to Bring:
1) A laptop for viewing code examples and demos 2) Your accessibility questions.
Modern web technology is ever-evolving and increasingly complex to implement. Creating accessible web applications is especially challenging: dynamic UI components and single-page, Ajax-driven architectures are inherently inaccessible. With the right process, mindset and techniques, creating modern, accessible web applications is possible.
Recent legislation brings the importance of accessibility to the forefront of web development. This legislation mandates accessibility compliance for airlines, and similar updates are expected in the near future.
The Modern Web Accessibility Workshop will focus on the entire lifecycle of web application development, from design, implementation, testing and maintenance. This workshop will also provide code examples and libraries that you can use in your projects now, as well as screen reader demonstrations to help you better understand the how to address the complexities of modern web accessibility.
In this workshop, you will learn:
- Design and implementation best practices that you can use now to improve the accessibility of your modern web apps
- Single-page application and responsive UI accessibility considerations
- The importance of creating a process that supports and promotes accessibility throughout each project lifecycle phase, from design, implementation, testing and maintenance
