A band defiantly in the classic mould, Roddy Hart & The Lonesome Fire have been lauded for their compelling blend of dark Americana and Celtic soul. Led by Hart’s distinctive voice and songwriting, the band create a vivid sonic landscape that has recently seen them perform across the UK and make their American network debut on The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson. This led to an invitation to take up a rare week-long residency, playing tracks from the new album to a combined audience of over 12 million people. They followed this with a nomination on the fiercely contested long list for the Scottish Album of the Year award for their eponymous album, which was described by Uncut as “Widescreen…poetic and [with] verve”. Helmed by acclaimed producer Danton Supple (Coldplay, Morrissey, Patti Smith) – and recorded everywhere from a Glasgow church, the band’s own rehearsal room in Govan Town Hall (once home to Franz Ferdinand), to the legendary Dean Street Studios in London (the birthplace of albums by David Bowie and The Smiths) – the album has been critically hailed as dark, brooding and atmospheric, but shot through with moments of beauty and hope.
