PROPAIN

The beauty of energetic the emcee from Houston, Tx is the internal passion and honesty in his music, which brims to the top with every hook, verse, and performance. Music has always been an ingredient of Chris “Propain” Dudley. In retrospect Propain believes that much of what has transpired in his career was due to being blessed, and partly lucky.

Today, Propain is considered one of the faces of not only the new generation of Houston rap, but the new voice of Texas all together. Over time Pro has developed a strong fanbase and has earned the respect of some of the best by putting out quality heartfelt music and bringing a sound from Houston that hasn’t been heard in some now. “I’ve never been afraid to share my experiences in my music. Good or bad, I just lay it all out for the world to soak up”, pro told in an interview with Respect magazine. His 2012 song “The Note” was a perfect example and the video shot by Michael Artis has 5 millions views & got great reviews on numerous blogs.

Inspired by Nas, 2pac, Jay-Z and Andre 3000, Propain began rapping at a very young age, 12, along side w/ his friends from the neighborhood and his now Dj/Producer Donnie Houston. “We still have cassettes with us freestyling over popular beats from our middle school days, said Propain. Picking music over basketball in college after running into Scarface at a video shoot, back hasn’t looked back since. “It was like an unreal moment. I spit for scarface at one of his video shoots he had in my neighborhood. He told me he love my flow and from that day I never played college basketball again, said Propain. Immediately Propain moved back to Houston and began working a job to pay for recording time.

2011 Propain seen his first radio hit with the single Say I Won’t. Making the charts, it open Pro up to a much bigger audience and gave him recognition outside of Houston. 2012 he started his own record label Forever Trill and released the critically acclaimed mixtape “Dangerous Minds”. Pro told Houston Press in an interview, “I feel like Dangerous Minds is what really set me apart from my peers and was the beginning of me finding my own true lane as an artist”.

His 2013 release “Ridin Slab” hit the streets and quickly blew up thru Texas. Complex magazine awarded it the “Best Texas Mixtape of 2013” beating out some of the states heavyweights and legends. “2 Rounds” featuring Rich Homie Quan is currently moving up the hip hop charts. “The camp is intact and we’re all in our zones from me to the producers Gluck & Bdon and Donnie Houston to the super director Michael Artis. We’ve all started together and kept everything in house. That’s why we sound like no one or have visuals like no one. We’re setting the tone for a new culture in Houston and at the same time paying homage to the legends”.
