In early 2013 singer and multi-instrumentalist Robert Laupert loaded all his belongings into a van and drove to Budapest, to create his very own music in the relative solitude of this foreign city. Drums, guitars, pedal steel, piano, sepia-coloured brass – Laupert played all of them himself, in the little apartment in the Jewish quarter, and interweaved them into a both natural and mysterious musical tapestry. This time in Budapest constituted the origin of L’aupaire. He sings from the perspective of a songwriter, but mixes a secret into his songs, tender and approachable at times, and now and then with the guttural brokenness of the old blues-masters. Because Laupert consequently searched and found his very own, we can now experience it. First to Budapest, then to the inside, and now out into the world. With his first single “Rollercoaster Girl”, released on an EP with the same title, he presents us his first work on 24th October. Starting October 27th he will travel throughout Germany with his band. One may be curious.
