DJ Mr. King

Born and raised in Akron, Ohio, DJ Mr. King aka “The Akron Ali” has never let the small town tendencies dictate his larger than life approach to brand himself. Graduating from local house parties and talent shows in Akron to clubs and concerts while earning a bachelor degree from The Ohio State University during the early 2000s, DJ Mr. King is now one of the go-to guys in the Midwest for mixtapes and artist exposure.

Priding himself on breaking records, DJ Mr. King has been linked the success of hip hop acts Dorrough Music (“Ice Cream Paint Job”, “Walk That Walk”) and Louisiana Cash (“Walk Wit A Dip”) among others. His nationally recognized Mixshow Podcast is a weekly online mixshow that has been consistent every Thursday since March 2010. Recently surpassing his 200th episode in March 2014, DJ Mr. King continues to earn the respect from his fellow DJ brethren, upcoming artists and record labels across the country.

King most recently joined the Power 107.5 (WCKX) in Columbus, Ohio and currently mixes every weeknight at 10pm inside the #10Spot with Lil D.

In addition to rocking clubs or mixshows on a weekly basis across the Midwest and staying consistent with a minimum of 2 promotional mixtapes a month, DJ Mr. King, is also an high school Intervention Specialist and basketball coach. King, who is completed his master’s degree at Ashland University last spring, also co-founded the Young Black Professionals Coalition—a non-profit organization that focuses on personal, professional and social development of future leaders, including high school and college students. DJ Mr. King focuses strongly on YBPC with holiday food and clothing drives as well as their annual “I Know I Can” Back-To-School Drive, “Strikes 4 Hunger” Charity Bowling Outing, “Shoot Basketballs NOT People Free Youth Basketball Clinic” and “Scratchin’ To Survive” a 24-Hour Breast Cancer Awareness Mix-A-Thon.

DJ Mr. King, a member of the Core DJs, has his own mobile app available on all Andriod and iPhone devices. Through this app subscribers can stay up to date with daily news and events, weekly Mixshow Podcasts, monthly mixtape releases and annual events with DJ Mr. King from the palms of their hands. Currently, more than 30,000 users interact with DJ Mr. King through the app and various social media platforms a week.
