Bonnie Mercer

Outside of the activities of her current bands (Paul Kidney Experience, Breathing Shrine & Dumb Numbers), Bonnie Mercer keeps herself busy with a range of solo and collaborative projects in which she further explores the worlds of unrestrained depraved feedback, hallucinatory white noise and hypnotically evolving sonic guitar experiments.

A founding guitarist of three-piece psych-sludge rockers Grey Daturas, Grey Daturas became renowned for their feedback soaked live performances which incorporated drones, hypnotic rhythmic passages and psychedelic guitar lines, all produced at extreme volumes.

Whilst Bonnie Mercer’s recorded solo catalogue is at this stage still limited to one self-released CDR and cassette, her tracks have appeared on many compilations in Australia, Canada, and USA.

Notable collaborations and performances have included:

- Main support for Earth (USA) on their Australian east coast tour dates in 2012 and Melbourne 2014. - Also supported Sleep (USA), Boris (Japan), Thrones (USA), John Wiese (USA), Pete Swanson (USA), Black Boned Angel (New Zealand), amongst others. - Contributing to the ‘Dumb Numbers‘ album which also features members of Melvins, Dinosaur Jr, Best Coast, Magic Dirt, Useless Children. - Occasional guest guitarist and collaborator with legendary Sydney band Scattered Order. - Contributed to Magic Dirt’s album “Roky’s Room”, and appearing in the accompanying short film “Paradise” by Glendyn Ivin (premiered at the Melbourne International Film Festival in 2008). - Final Grey Daturas album, ‘Return to Disruption’ (2010) released by the band Neurosis (USA) on their record label ‘Neurot Recordings’. - Yellow Swans/Grey Daturas collaboration ‘Copper/Silver’ listed as one of the best albums of 2005 by ‘Wire’ magazine. - Participated in the 2009 Melbourne Fringe Festival’s inaugural“Guitarelay” (a unique improvisational performance consisting of 30 guitarists). - Performed in the What is Music? Festival “50/50 – Fifty artists in fifty minutes” concert (with her duo ‘Breathing Shrine’).

Bonnie Mercer is currently recording her debut full length album. Limited copies of ‘Signal Limitation’ and ‘Old Moon / New Moon’ are available from http://bonniemercer.bandcamp.com
