Big White

Big White is an Australian band formed in Sydney, New South Wales on January the 24th, 2013. The band consists of Nick Griffith (vocals/guitar), Cody Munro Moore (vocals/guitar), Jack Wotton (vocals/guitar), Elmo Aoyama (vocals/bass/synth) and Bowen Shakallis (drums/percussion). In January 2014, Big White flew as a band to Berlin to record their first single with the new lineup titled, ‘I Can't Tell’. Over two days Big White recorded in Kreuzberg to 8 track tape. Arriving back in Sydney in early March they began to rehearse multiple times a week and began recording songs for an undisclosed album. This led them all the way up to their first video clip for ‘I Can’t Tell’ released independently on the 24th of July. The launch held at the Vic on the Park was well received by a full house. With critical acclaim from members of Sydney’s music community Big White received support from local blogs and radio stations alike.

Big White supported Wax Witches at the Beach Rd Hotel on September the 24th. Noticed by founder of Burger Records Lee Rickard who picked them up to release their debut album ‘Teenage Dreams’ on his label. The soon to be released album ‘Teenage Dreams’ was recorded over the period of 11 months, beginning in a Berlin winter but extensively put together in Balmain, Sydney at Damien Gerard studios. Renowned Australian engineer Russell Pilling who worked on the album said that it was one of the most ‘invigorating albums’ that he has worked on. Finished on 29th of December, Teenage Dreams is set to be released in March 2015 through Burger records in Fullerton, LA. Big White have been announced to play Burger Record’s, Burgerama four at the Observatory in LA with Gang of four, Ty Segal and Ariel Pink on the 27th of March, 2015.
